About the Awards

For the 2025 Brighter Future Awards the AHI wishes to recognise the very valuable contributions made by our First Nations led organisations who provide unique projects specific to the needs of Indigenous Peoples across Australia and New Zealand. Included within the team awards categories is the opportunity to showcase First Nations led projects for assessment by the judging panel, which will include members with specific expertise in both the New Zealand and Australian perspectives.

Those identified will be put forward for Commendation if they are not the overall winner of the category in any event. It is proposed these Jurisdictional Commendations will also be recognised at the National event with the eligible First Nations led organisations announced as overall winners for New Zealand and Australia.

The individual category nomination forms will include the opportunity to put forward recommendations for the Commendations. First Nations organisations are encouraged to include this within their submissions.

Below are the 9 award categories and an explanation about each one.

The Brighter Future Awards are held every two years.

The previous awards were held throughout 2023 culminating at the Gala Dinner held in Brisbane in October 2023.
